Not long ago, we said hello to WordPress 4.6 but things are already starting to take shape for WordPress 4.7, scheduled for release on December 6th.
On September 9th, WordPress 4.7 release lead, Helen Hou-Sandí announced that the new version of WordPress will be launching with a fresh new theme.
Featuring a professional, modern look, Twenty Seventeen is designed by Mel Choyce, Core contributor, design engineer at Automattic, author and co-author of many other well-known WordPress.org themes and it promises to offer businesses a clean look for their website and a seamless installation process.
The new default theme will benefit from a smooth setup process and a couple of new core features and improvements are in store as well.
Moreover, Helen Hou-Sandí revealed that in order to make the theme “easier for everyone to understand, quicker for anyone to modify and better to maintain in the long run”, Twenty Seventeen will use plain CSS.
For anyone interested in contributing, weekly meetings are taking place every Friday at 18:00 UTC in #core-themes.
